Unknown gunmen have shot dead 11 people at the Paris office of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, killing 11 people and injuring 10.

The shooting is coming after Charlie's latest tweet of a cartoon caricature of the Islamic State militant group leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. The satirical weekly has courted controversy in the past with its irreverent take on news and current affairs.

The magazine was fire-bombed in November 2011 a day after it carried a caricature of the Prophet Muhammad.President Francois Hollande is at the scene and is planning to hold an emergency cabinet meeting.

An eyewitness reported that Two black-hooded men entered the building with Kalashnikovs(AK-47),a few minutes later,several shots were heard.The men were then seen fleeing the building.

Among the dead were 2 police officers. A manhunt has been launched by the french police.
