The dreaded Boko haram sect has succeeded in taking the town of Baga, Bono state. Early saturday morning, some of the sect members seized the town and a military base set up to fight the insurgents.Residents of Baga, who fled by boat to neighboring Chad, said many people had been killed and the town set ablaze.

An unnamed military official reportedly stated;
We got the information that Boko Haram insurgents went and dislodged the Multinational Joint Task Force there, after a fierce gun battle that lasted for hours,” the official said. “For now, all we can say is that it was a bad outing for the soldiers because the base was practically dislodged but one cannot say specifically the extent of damaged caused on the base and personnel
